Connect GitHub

Pull requests that move tasks along, and issues kept in sync both ways.

Link a GitHub repository to a project, and its branches, pull requests and commits find their tasks by the task’s number. Turn on issue sync, and its issues become the project’s tasks.

Connect the workspace

  1. The workspace owner opens Settings → GitHub and presses Connect GitHub.
  2. Install the Tuff app on your GitHub account or organisation, and choose the repositories it may see.
  3. In a project, open Settings → GitHub and choose the repository.

Pull requests

  • Name a task in a branch, a pull request or a commit, like TRA-12 or tra-12-sign-in. The pull request shows on the task, with its review and its checks.
  • A new branch or a draft moves the task to In Progress, a pull request ready for review to In Review.
  • Write Fixes TRA-12 in the pull request, and the task moves to Done when it’s merged.
  • Tasks only move forward. Copy branch name in a task’s menu gives you a branch that names it.

Issues

  • Turn on Keep issues in sync in the project’s GitHub settings. Open issues are brought in as tasks.
  • Titles, descriptions, status, assignees, labels and comments stay the same on both sides.
  • Connect your own GitHub in Account settings, so issues assigned to you are yours here, and what you write is written on GitHub as you.
Changes from GitHub are made as the person who linked the repository, and the activity feed says via GitHub.
